The petrified wood from which these sinks are carved comes from Java, Indonesia. The wood is estimated to be between 2 million and 5 million years old (from the late Tertiary period, also referred to as the Pliocene Epoch). The species range from Conifers to Rosewood.
Since this is natural stone, pitting or cavities are common. Any small voids are filled with matching resin, which makes the sink completely waterproof and functional. The sinks are then polished, drilled, tested, and sealed with wax before shipping.
